Liam Brady – so far so good
Liam Brady joined Arsenal as a schoolboy aged 15 in 1971 and turned pro two years later. He would soon become a first team regular and shone as a rare light in a side that hovered close to relegation for a couple of seasons in the mid-1970s. He would come into his own with the appointment of Terry Neill as manager and the return of Don Howe as coach and was part of the side that reached three consecutive FA Cup finals at the end of the decade. This outspoken account of his life in football was written just before he left Arsenal to pursue his career in Italy.
