West Ham In My Day Volume 2
Following the successful launch of WEST HAM UTD: In My Day (volume one) last year, we’re back with volume two packed with 20 exclusive interviews with former West Ham United players.
Former Upton Park favourites from decades spanning from the late-1950s to the late-90s recall their highs and lows of life with the Hammers through a series of compelling interviews.
As well as providing a fascinating insight into what playing for the East London club meant to players who wore the claret and blue, In My Day also presents more than 160 evocative black and white photographs from days gone by, many of them published here for the first time.
Among those featured in this edition are cult hero Julian Dicks, 1980 FA Cup winner Geoff Pike, 1975 FA Cup winners Pat Holland and Mervyn Day, Irish legend Liam Brady and Golden Boy Frank McAvennie, whose goals shot Hammers to within touching distance of the championship in 1986.
IN MY DAY (Vol 2) also features the following ex-Hammers: Tim Breacker, Mark Robson, John Moncur, Steve Potts, Bobby Barnes, Johnny Ayris, Dudley Tyler, Lawrie Leslie, Joe Kirkup, Jack Burkett, Peter Brabrook, Bobby Ferguson, Alan Stephenson, Bill Lansdowne and Ken Brown. Plus memories of the 1972 League Cup marathon semi-final and the 1976 European Cup Winners’ Cup final in Belgium.
They all provide a fascinating insight – both on and off the field – into the running of the Premier League club that has seen turbulent times in its past 50 years. Their greatest memories and the experiences they would like to forget. Why did they sign and what made them leave? Cup-winning highs and the lows of relegation, we talk to the heroes and the villains.
It’s all here in this magnificent 248-page book produced by Terry Roper and Tony McDonald.
